the lie of laziness
I want to offer you a wild but strangely comforting idea.
What if that voice inside you that says, “I don’t want to do this right now,” isn’t lazy or bad…but incredibly wise?
Dr. Devon Price, a social psychologist and author of Laziness Does Not Exist, calls it the “laziness lie”— this deep cultural myth that our worth is measured by how much we produce, the idea that our exhaustion is merely a personal flaw to correct, and that rest is only something we earn once everything else is done (spoiler alert: everything will never be done).
This lie is so sneaky!
It lives intergenerationally. It’s baked into capitalism, white supremacy, the Protestant work ethic, and the systems that tell us we’re only valuable if we’re always doing, achieving, growing and optimizing.
As my friend Emma taught me to ask, “Who benefits from this belief?”
Here’s a hint: it’s not you.
Personally, I’ve uncovered the pattern that operating just at the edge of exhaustion and burnout feels normal and “just right” for me— I slip into it like slipping into an old leather shoe.
But when I stepped out of my mainstream jobby-job and into this work, I realized how absurd it was to be offering energy work from a place of exhaustion. I don’t want to receive energy work from someone who is burnt out, and I doubt you do, either!
Yet even with awareness, the pattern persisted.
Side note: I have something embarrassing to admit— I spent several years connecting with my clients’ guides and ancestors, translating messages of love, support and guidance before I realized that I could access that help for myself too.
Guidance was not just for other people—I could get the support I needed, too.
When I started taking the time to connect with my guides for myself, everything started to get… easier.
And what I learned from my Guides, consistently, repeatedly, and in 10,000 different ways, was something wild and liberating:
Our most powerful magic emerges from presence, not pressure or productivity.
When we aren’t under the spell of productivity—when we pause long enough to hear the whispers under all that programming and external static—that’s when the truest, most authentic, most joyful magic moves through us.
My greatest clarity, creativity, connection, and healing do not come when I force myself to push through–they come when I stop.
When I nap.
When I wander and listen to the land.
And most importantly– they come when I ask for guidance, and make the space to receive it.
This is part of why I created a new self-paced course, Connecting With Your Spirit Guides.
I want you to have access to this too.
My deepest prayer is that the course offers a gentle path to re-enter into relationship with the loving beings that walk beside you.
You get to move at your own pace, and it will be slow, spacious and digestible.
From now until August 10, I’m offering this course as a beta round, which means:
✨ You’ll get it at the lowest price it’ll ever be ($250 before Aug 10)
✨ You’ll help me shape the course with your honest feedback
✨ You’ll be invited to a bonus live group Q&A + sharing circle
✨ You’ll receive an exclusive group energy healing session

I’ve been learning—over and over—that the more I honor my own rhythms, the more clearly I can hear (and translate) the subtle information of the Unseen— which has allowed me to feel safer, more supported and more connected to my own authenticity, and to Life itself, as a friendly and benevolent experience.
If you’re ready to come back into that kind of connection, I’d love to walk with you.
With so much love (and a permission slip to do less),
Meghan
